
Victoria L. Rye
Born across the border in Blue Earth, MN, Vicky lived in Rake Iowa until she was 9 years old. Living in a small town of under 300 people Vicky learned independence and community service. She regularly made marketing trips for her elderly relatives and neighbors. She knew the town and it’s residents "like the back of her hand!" In 1961 Vicky’s parents fulfilled their lifelong dream of becoming farmers. Vicky and her family relocated to a farm one mile north and west of Lake Mills, Iowa. Vicky was busy with School, Band, Chorus and extra curricular activities as well as livestock work on the farm. During High School Vicky worked part time at Colby Peat Plant as an office assistant.
Vicky took her post high school education at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA earning an Associates of Arts Degree in Medical Terminology and Science. She worked in Medical Records at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cape Canaveral, Florida from May 1972 until October 1973. The then worked as the Executive Secretary to the Director of the Ramstein AFB, NCO Club International, Ramstein, Germany until returning to Iowa in June 1975. Club International is the largest NCO club to be found outside of the USA.
In early 1971 Vicky was introduced to Steve Rye by his brother. They quickly became best friends and after a 1.5 year, long and short distance engagement, were married in Lake Mills, Iowa on September 9, 1972 . The following year they were transferred from Patrick AFB, Florida to the 86th Transportation Squadron., Ramstein AFB, West Germany. They made their home at Seiglebach, West Germany for the next 1.5 years. Living off base was an excellent opportunity to experience a different lifestyle, offering the opportunity to learn patience and tolerance for different cultures and perspectives.
In 1975 Steve was released from active military duty and they returned to Iowa. From mid 1975 until 1977, Vicky was the Radiation Therapy Department’s Receptionist at Shoitz Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. In 1977 Vicky and Steve purchased a portrait studio in Charles City, IA and purchased a second studio located in Mason City, IA in 1981 . Steve and Vicky recorded the important life events of their fellow North Iowans until retiring from the photography business in 1996 to pursue Real Estate more actively.
Vicky became a licensed Realtor in 1989 and worked part time for another realty office for 5.5 years preceding the start of Rye Realty, Inc. in 1996. In 2002 Vicky earned her Real Estate Brokers license. She holds the position of Vice President, of Rye Realty, Inc. and oversees all of the operations of the business. Steve and Vicky have sold and appraised hundreds and hundreds of properties since then and have become experts in all areas of the practice of real estate.
Vicky’s hobbies include: Grand mothering, Gardening and Landscaping, she loves to Travel. Through their youngest daughter, Vicky has become quite familiar with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Steve and Vicky have been married since 1972 and have two daughters, Sara Rye, a Realtor with their office, and Rachel Rye, a student They have two granddaughters: Kaitlyn, and Adriana "Ranie". Their dog is a Pointer named Sadie. They live in an historic older Georgian Revival home located on a one acre site along the south banks of Willow Creek on Mason City’s historic East State Street.
